Top Ten Books I Have Reread

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish!

I'm editing this topic. The original was want to reread, but since I reread so much, I decided to make it the ones I've reread the most.

1. Sweet Evil by Wendy Higgins - Sweet is simply unputdownable. I have read it more times than I can count, and whenever asked what my favorite book is, Sweet Evil is always the first book that pops to mind.

2. All That Glows by Ryan Graudin - All That Glows is another favorite. It's a tad newer, so I haven't reread it as much, but I fell in love with it immediately, and every time I pick it up, I have to read the whole thing.

3. Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead - I first read Vampire Academy a few years ago, and since then, I have fallen in love. While Sydney in the new series is cool, my love will always remain with Rose.

4. Alice in Zombieland by Gena Showalter - There's a magical quality about Gena's books. Every time I read them, I fall more and more in love.

5. Pushing the Limits by Katie McGarry - Pushing the Limits is one of the few contemporaries that I can say with all honesty that I love. It tackles tough subject matter, while still remaining humorous and romantic.

6. White Hot Kiss by Jennifer L. Armentrout - The guy character Roth has a snake tattoo named Bambi that comes alive and eats people. Need I say anything else?

7. Divergent by Veronica Roth - This was pre-Allegiant, no spoilers, but since that book, I haven't been able to look at the series in the same light.

8. Abandon by Meg Cabot - I practically grew up on Meg Cabot (along with Margaret Peterson Haddix and Gale Carson Levine). Once I outgrew her middle grade books, I discovered this series and fell in love!

9. The Distance Between Us by Kasie West - One of the only other contemporaries that I truly enjoyed. This book is fun and romantic and like my favorite paranormals without the supernatural.

10. The Selection by Kiera Cass - A fun book that many people seem to dislike. I really like the main character America, and each time I read it, I see a different side of the story.

A (Funny) Summary of Allegiant by Veronica Roth (SPOILERS!)

 

As you know, I'm a big fan of the Divergent series by Veronica Roth. In class this week, we had to do a project about a book we read of winter break. One of my friends did a Powerpoint on Allegiant. It was so well done, and so funny, that I asked him if I could share it with you! Luckily, he said yes. Read on, and enjoy the funniness that is this summary of Allegiant. Be warned there is spoilers for everything except the very end. If you have not read the previous books or are not finished with Allegiant, do not read!

Divergent by Veronica Roth

The cover of the book says 'One choice can transform you' and based on the transformations of character that go on during this book, it couldn't be more right. The world of Divergent is one that is not fully explained until the second book. I've been told that the world seems a bit unbelievable, I can see that point of view at the beginning, but as the series progresses, the background of their city and five factions become infinitely clear. The five factions are Abnegation, the selfless, Candor, the truthful, Dauntless, the brave, Amity, the peaceful, and Erudite, the intelligent.  The one thing I see wrong with this picture is that, how can a person be classified to just one faction. I could be in any of the above factions, but wouldn't thrive in any one because I'm a bit of everything. The main character very much embodies the fact that you can't be classified into one thing in life.

The main character is Beatrice 'Tris' Prior. She began in Abnegation, but changes to Dauntless in the beginning after learning that she's Divergent. Meaning she can belong to multiple factions. She faces many challenges, including fierce competition, hiding her secret of being Divergent-for telling anyone could endanger her life-and her budding romance with the trainer of the Dauntless initiates, Four (don't worry, he's only a couple years older than her).

There are some fairly obvious things in the book. Little things mentioned at the beginning that are built on later on. Let me tell you this, nothing is coincidence. The story gets better and more intricate with every page. I gobbled it up in just about one sitting. It's a book of choices and not being confined to one lifestyle. While it's a book purely for entertainment, it seems to have some moral things in there as well. I immensely enjoyed this book and give it a full five stars.
