Unearthly & Hallowed by Cynthia Hand

Cynthia hand is amazing! I read her debut novel Unearthly as soon as I could get my hands on it. Later, I picked up her sequel Hallowed at the same pace. I was doubtful of it and didn't end up reading it. Over the summer, I picked it up because I was bored. I do not regret it. I recently bought the books and have read both multiple times.

The main character is named Clara Gardner. She is part angel. Since she is part angel, she has a purpose. In the first book, she has a vision showing her her purpose. She moves to where her purpose takes place. She is supposed to save a boy named Christian. So, for part of the first book, she is trying to date him. Then, summer break begins. She falls in love with another boy. I can't say what the repercussions are though. But basically, she finds out in the second book.

I love these books. I truly could not predict a word they were going to say. Cynthia Hand has made me laugh, cry, scream, and everything in between. I love these books! If you're into the angel folklore (or not) this is for you. I give them a solid five stars.

Synopsis:

When Clara Gardner learns she’s part angel, her entire life changes. She now has a purpose, a specific task she was put on this earth to accomplish, except she doesn’t know what it is. Her visions of a raging forest fire and a mysterious boy lead her to a new high school in a new town but provide no clear instruction. As Clara tries to find her way in a world she no longer understands, she encounters unseen dangers and choices she never thought she’d have to make—between the boy in her vision and the boy in her life, between honesty and deceit, love and duty, good and evil. . . . When the fire from her vision finally ignites, will Clara be ready to face her destiny?

For months Clara Gardner trained to face the fire from her visions, but she wasn't prepared for the choice she had to make that day. And in the aftermath, she discovered that nothing about being part angel is as straightforward as she thought.
Now, torn between her love for Tucker and her complicated feelings about the roles she and Christian seem destined to play in a world that is both dangerous and beautiful, Clara struggles with a shocking revelation: Someone she loves will die in a matter of months. With her future uncertain, the only thing Clara knows for sure is that the fire was just the beginning.
In this compelling sequel to Unearthly, Cynthia Hand captures the joy of first love, the anguish of loss, and the confusion of becoming who you are.
