Obsidian by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Oh my god! This book is amazing! How often to you see hot, sexy aliens? I got the book for Christmas and was flipping pages so fast, I finished the next morning. It's a read in one sitting, gobble it up book. I could not put it down. Obsidian is the first book in the Lux series. I've been wanting them for ages. The authors writes, and has written, tons of YA books, so check them out.

The main character is named Katie. Her father passed away from cancer three years prior to the book. She lived in Florida and has just moved to West Virginia at the beginning of the book. Let me tell you, Katie has an attitude you will never forget. She doesn't hesitate to challenge authority, or super-powerful aliens, if she feels it is in the way of what she feels is right. She meets the male protagonist, Daemon, at the beginning of the book and it's not love at first sight. Thank god! In fact, they're probably arguing for half the book. It gets slightly tedious, but it's fun.

One of the best things about this book? No love triangle. Katie's never going 'Do I like him or him? He's super hot, but he's super sweet. What do I do?' It was a big relief. I hate being torn between two guys. These books are definitely cookies for the mind. All in all, an amazing read. I give it five stars!
Synopsis:

Starting over sucks.

When we moved to West Virginia right before my senior year, I'd pretty much resigned myself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring... until I spotted my hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up.

And then he opened his mouth.

Daemon is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. We do not get along. At all. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemons literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something... unexpected happens.

The hot aliens living next door marks me.

You heard me. Aliens. Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steel their abilities, and Daemon's touch has me lit up like the Vegas Strip. The only way I'm getting out of this alive is by sticking close to Daemons until my alien mojo fades.

If I don't kill him first.
