Top Ten Books I'll Probably Never Read

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish!

1. The Kiss by James Patterson - Or really, anything else by James Patterson. I read the first three books in this series, as well as all of the Maximum Ride books, and he is just tired.

2. Most classic novels - I have nothing against classics, but they're just not my style. Unless forced to read them for school, I will most likely not read them.

3. Half Minute Horrors - I own this book, a gift from my grandfather. Horror is not my genre, at all. I've read some of the stories in it, and always end up going to bed with the lights on. Having a writer brain, I have enough monsters in my head as it is.

4. Uglies by Scott Westerfeld - My friends are currently trying to get me to read Afterworlds, which I might read, but his books all seem don't pull me in.

5. Any of the House of Night short stories by P.C. and Kristin Cast - I was sick of the series by the end, and don't think I can revisit it anytime soon.

6. Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett - I read about half of this for a book club, and it was PAINFUL! 3/4 of the time, I had no idea what was going on.

7. Any Nicholas Sparks book - Any book that I know will make me cry goes FAR away from my pile of books to read. The only time I read a book that'll make me cry is if A) I don't know that it will or B) I'm spoiled for the crying thing.

8. The Delirium Stories by Lauren Oliver - I love Lauren, but after being disappointed with the end of the series, I don't think I can revisit it.

There's probably a bunch of other books, but I can't think of them right now, so I'll leave you with eight instead of ten.

  1. I am with you on the classic novels! I hate them and since I no longer do English at school anymore, I have no reason to read any of them. Uglies is okay once you get over the annoying slang, but everyone has different tastes I guess. I had The Delirium books on my list this week too!

  2. I don't read James Patterson, doesn't seem like a good fit for me.

I try to work in a few classics every year, but many are so complicated and overly wordy that's it's difficult to enjoy them. I usually do them on audio.

I actually liked Uglies, but had no desire to finish the series, especially when the fourth book is almost unrelated to the original story.

I've tried Neil Gaiman twice and he just doesn't fit the bill for me. American Gods was awful. The Ocean at the End of the Lane was quite stupid, in my opinion.

I read Nicholas Sparks' books, but the movies are always better, in my opinion.

I liked Delirium okay, but it didn't wrap up too well. That said, I liked the stories--especially Hana's as she was my favorite character In the series, despite her actions.
